7 style inspirations for your next intimate gathering

Friends!

How is August upon us? What a whirlwind 2020 has been.  Driven by the rollercoaster ride of the Covid-19 pandemic, a socially distant spring and summer kept us apart from friends,  clients and what we do best: GATHERING (and throwing one hell of a party…in rapid format, one after the next)! :) We desperately missed executing beautifully crafted events and sending couples down the aisle in style.

The rocky season and isolation from the work we’re so passionate about left us longing for something that felt more normal. When asked to partner up with industry friends to whip up something fun and stress free in designing 7 various tablescapes for a shoot, we were “ALL IN!”  It felt so good to flex our creative muscles.

Petals & Twigs had visions of an ivy canopy, whimsy gold florals, and a floating cloud of babysbreath. We were itching to do something a little different while showcasing inspiration for intimate table settings - realizing that smaller gatherings would be sticking around for a while. The Commonwealth Club provided their transformable space, Rent E Quip graciously provided rental inventory A-Z, while Calligraphy by Kitchen enhanced the tabletop details with her talented hand lettering.  J&D Photography did an amazing job (as always) capturing every detail as you’ll see below and together we made it happen!

The fun part about this collaboration was that Petals & Twigs came up with a few looks that we then transformed into 7 very different table top designs simply by swapping a few items -a linen, floral arrangement, china or napkins. Whether your looking for some WOW factor for your rehearsal dinner or head table, or your event is downsizing to a more intimate dinner party, micro wedding or elopement, we hope these ideas help ignite your imagination! Speaking of smaller social events, be sure you check out our last blog on a current trend with staying power  - The Micro Wedding!

We call this one: “COLOR + TEXTURE”

Why we love it: This design is bursting with fun and flavor! We love how it screams “summertime” with it’s vibrant colors and more modern style. Our favorite thing about this one is all the texture incorporated - from the whimsy florals to ocean colored velvet, gold accents, and the bone ceramic china that balances it all just enough. The napkins were a last minute find from West Elm, and we’re mildly obsessed with the velvet trim. We wanted to show it off and opted to go with two alternating napkin folds.

We call this one: “GOLDEN LUX”

Why we love it: This design blends classic style with luxury. The white and gold combination has a classic more traditional feeling, but the climbing ivy and lush gold velvet flowing from end to end brings a romantic elegance perfect for an intimate formal setting in any season - winter, spring or fall!

We call this one: “SECRET GARDEN”

Why we love it: This canopy of climbing greens and ivy is everything. Leave it to Petals + Twigs to reimagine the (getting tired) idea of “greenery garlands” running down a table, and whip up this beauty. Whether you’re indoors or out, this design gives you and your guests the ambiance of sitting in a beautiful hidden garden.

We call this one: “AL FRESCO”

Why we love it: Rent E Quip’s new “Azure” china collection takes us to dining outdoors somewhere perfect- al fresco style. Lucky for us, we found the patio at The Commonwealth Club be utterly perfect for an intimate al fresco gathering. We like the way the cobalt blue candles play up the pop of color with the napkin. Notice we swapped the floral centerpieces in the last couple shots to show off how doing so really changes the look!

We call this one: “MOD + ORGANIC”

Why we love it: Minimalist, modern vibes. This one might be our personal favorite from the shoot from the black and gold velo flatware to the unique bud vase arrangements, and the acrylic round placecards to top it off! With a more intimate table, you can really get creative and do something fun at each place setting.

We call this one: “DECADENCE”

Why we love it: Isn’t she dreamy? This one almost feels like a fairytale with more feminine style and all the frills. Baby’s breath is making it’s comeback, and the cloud of it floating overhead definitely creates a special ambiance for your guests. We love the coupe glasses here filled with raspberry mousse, adding to this “decadent” spread!

We call this one: “RUSTIC + SOPHISTICATED”

Why we love it: This one is totally giving us rehearsal dinner vibes. More masculine, but still impressive and sophisticated. We love the neutral tones and rustic vibe with the moss centerpieces and wood chargers tied in.
