This week we caught up with Rachel Shrader, co-owner and hairstylist at Avenue 42 Style Studio, to talk about this seasons' trends in wedding hair and makeup. Rachel and one of Ave. 42's make-up artists, Krista Rose, showed us two popular looks for today's brides.
For the first look, Rachel wanted to create natural, yet elegant curls on our model for a softer look.
While the curls were setting, Krista lightly brushed on makeup to highlight the natural beauty of our model, keeping the look very soft and simple.
"We are really seeing brides that just want natural volume and wave. The vintage look is still very popular and the whole 1940's/1950's look is coming back like crazy," said Rachel.
Simple bridal hair, but gorgeous and luxurious. Sally rocked the loose lengths, and carefree waves!
For the second look, Rachel showed us a more classic up-do, but low and pulled to the side. She still allowed for a little volume at the top and sweet curls at the bottom.
Natural and sophisticated, with some intricate braiding- still trending.
To emphasize the elegance of the look, Krista chose to use a darker eye shadow, making the model's eyes really pop, and a dark lip for bold color.
Classic updos and vintage volume are the major trends for spring/summer 2014 brides. Many brides will also add a statement accessory, like a flower, keeping their look feminine and natural. The ladies at Avenue 42 do an excellent job of keeping up with the latest styles and trends and offer different packages to fit the needs of you and your bridal party. Take a look at their website HERE to check them out. They do group styling as well as blow-outs for quick, on-the-go looks. You can definitely count on them to make you feel like a PRINCESS on the big day!
Big thanks again to Rachel and Krista for spending time with us, and very special thanks to our lovely model, Sally Borghesani, and fantastic photographer, Jessica Maida (Jessica Maida Photography).
